Chinese smartphone manufacturer OPPO is officially launching its much-anticipated F31 5G series today at 12 pm. The series includes three models: the OPPO F31, F31 Pro, and F31 Pro Plus. With a focus on durability, premium design, and innovative features, this lineup is set to make waves in the Indian market.
Durable Design Meets Premium Aesthetic
The OPPO F31 series stands out with its layered "Airbag" construction, a unique feature designed to protect key components like the camera, speakers, battery, and vibration motors. According to OPPO, this construction employs silicone and foam inserts to act as shock absorbers, enhancing the ruggedness of the devices while maintaining their sleek aesthetic. The series is said to combine "rugged durability and premium design", making it particularly suitable for the challenging conditions of the Indian market.
The phones will be available in multiple finishes and colours, including Gemstone Blue, Himalayan White, Festival Pink, Desert Gold, Space Grey, Midnight Blue, Cloud Green, and Bloom Red. The models weigh between 187g and 204g and measure 7.7–7.96mm in thickness, ensuring a balance of portability and durability.
Advanced Display and Battery Capabilities
The F31 series features AMOLED displays across all models, with the Pro Plus variant boasting a 6.8-inch screen, while the F31 and F31 Pro are equipped with 6.57-inch displays. All models offer an impressive screen-to-body ratio of over 93 per cent for an immersive viewing experience.
Under the hood, a 7,000mAh battery powers the devices, supporting 80W SuperVOOC fast charging as well as reverse and bypass charging options. OPPO highlights the battery's longevity, claiming that its self-repairing electrolyte technology allows up to 1,830 charge cycles while retaining approximately 80 per cent capacity after five years.
Built to Withstand Tough Conditions
Durability is a major focus for the OPPO F31 series. The devices come with three IP ratings: IP66 for protection against dust and splashes, IP68 for resistance to water immersion up to 1.5 metres, and IP69 for shielding against strong water jets. OPPO has also tested the phones against various liquids, including coffee, soft drinks, and soap water, to ensure reliability in everyday scenarios. Additional protective features include water-resistant microphones, reinforced SIM card trays, and speaker drainage channels.
The series adopts a 360-degree Armour Body structure, which has cleared seven MIL-STD-810H tests for endurance against shock, dust, sand, and extreme temperatures. OPPO claims the devices can survive drops from heights of up to 1.8 metres, thanks to features such as shock-dampening pads, foam cushions for internal components, reinforced edges, and slightly raised camera modules. The phones utilise aerospace-grade aluminium alloy for the chassis, and the display is shielded by AGC DT-Star D Plus glass.
Launch and Availability
The OPPO F31 series will be available starting today, September 15, through the brand's official website and select e-commerce platforms. With its combination of durability, innovative technology, and sleek design, the F31 series aims to cater to users seeking a reliable yet stylish smartphone experience.
